Oh, where do I start here? First off, sorry for the lag in posts. I know it’s been MONTHS since I blogged. There is a reason for that! So I think I’ll start with that whole “pregnancy announcement” part you probably read in the title there.
YEP. I’m pregnant! Ryan and I are so excited! We are expecting a baby boy due October 7th. The first trimester took a lot out of me. I didn’t feel like doing all the things I used to do, and that meant the blog really took a hit because of it.
However I am still traveling and working. I am writing this at 28 weeks pregnant. The first trimester came and went with nausea and exhaustion, while the second trimester had me full of energy. Now that I have just entered the third trimester, I am kicking things into high gear to prepare for baby, all while trying not to worrying about the impending labor pains and the struggles of being a first time mom.
Although I am pregnant, I am still traveling regularly. It is summer after all! One of the first trips we took during my pregnancy was a little road trip to the Appalachian Trail!
If you don’t know already, Ryan and I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2013, and this was the first time revisiting the trail since our hike. Since we now live on the Virginia coast, we drove a couple hours to Shenandoah National Park and Roanoke, VA for a quick getaway!
I highly recommend visiting this area of Virginia. It’s gorgeous! Even if you don’t plan on hiking at all, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway is especially scenic, and the cute town of Roanoke is a great place to stay, eat and shop.
