Utah is one of my absolute favorite places to visit in the United States. There’s something about the dry, Utah landscape that truly inspires and captivates me. Red rocks, cactus, sand… I feel like I’m in my element here. I tend to say this a lot, but if you’ve never been to Utah, it’s about time you visit.
We’ve visited Utah a number of times. However this last time was like no other, as we road tripped through the state from Colorado, visiting Capitol Reef National Park, Lake Powell, and Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.
We got truly scared in Spooky Gulch, had the best coffee at Kiva Koffeehouse, and felt the heat in Devil’s Garden. My favorite part of this trip though was exploring Dry Fork Gulch. Our afternoon hike offered the best lighting in the gulch, as the tall walls of the slot canyon glowed orange, which just so happens to be my absolute favorite color.
Utah is like no other place. And I hope we captured the beauty of the West through our road trip pictures. To be honest, pictures still don’t do this area justice. We covered a lot of ground and a lot of miles this trip. But being on the open road in this beautiful state turned into a trip I will never forget.

If you’re interested in road tripping around Utah, I would recommend a four-wheel drive vehicle with high clearance. The route above isn’t the exact route we took because we did drive off-road sometimes. We truly enjoy the solitude that off-riding brings, and Utah is full of a number of 4wd trails. It’s a great way to create your own adventure.
Other Utah Places I Recommend: Canyonlands National Park, Zion National Park, Dinosaur National Monument
